LECALE & DOWNE HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Children's Art Competition 2020

Children's Art Week is a UK-wide programme run by Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education. In 2020, Children's Art Week will take place online, at home and in schools, stretched over three weeks in June and July.

Over the past months, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how essential creativity and the visual arts are for learning, connecting and wellbeing. While venues, cultural organisations and some school buildings may be closed, engaging in the visual arts is more important than ever.

The Lecale & Downe Historical Society will be running a competition for children aged 3 to 15 years and invites them to get drawing or painting their favourite scene from around Lecale and County Down.

There are three age categories, each with a 1st place prize of £30. The age categories are 3-6, 7-10 and 11-15 years. The competition will run from 29th June until the closing date of 19th July 2020, after which the three winners will be announced. An online gallery will be set up for all entries received.

How to enter

Please email a photograph or scan of the child's picture on or before 19th July 2020 to ldhscompetition@live.co.uk or via messaging the Society on Facebook. Please include the name and age of the child.

Please note that there is no need to submit a photograph including the child, however winners may be asked to submit a photograph holding their image.

Any images of the entrant received will be regarded as permission to publish in media etc. for publicity purposes.
