The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 19

Armagh
19th 48

Dear Mamma,

I hardly know what to say to Dada’s letter one thing I can say that it did not produce any good in me when I received it. I confess that I deserved it but cutting language never did me any good. Far be it from me that I should hurt any persons feelings, by negligence, all that Mr L had complain of is my Greek. I acknowledge I am very deficient in it but hope he will have no occasion to complain on me again. I would rather be a nothing in the world than give you and Dada any further uneasiness, his letter dispirited me greatly, but I hope that nothing more may occur of the kind. I hope to be enabled to do better in the future. I dislike very much to hurt Dadas feelings so I hope he will forgive me. Give my love to all.

I remain your affect son.
